What is the SQF Edition 10 Conversion Course?

The SQF Edition 10 Conversion Course is the SQFI training course on what changed between Edition 9 and Edition 10 of the SQF Code, why the changes were made, and how to put them into practice. Kiwa ASI is an SQFI Licensed Training Center and teaches it as a live, 4-hour workshop on Zoom, led by an SQFI Certified Trainer.

Who should attend the Edition 10 Conversion Course?

SQF Practitioners and backup practitioners, quality assurance and food safety staff, and certified site teams who already work with an Edition 9 system and need to update it for Edition 10. SQFI designed the conversion course for SQF Practitioners, auditors, and quality professionals.

How long is the course, and what is the format?

The course is 4 contact hours in a single half-day session, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM Central Time, taught live on Zoom. It is highly interactive, combining group discussion, live navigation of the digitized Code, scenario exercises, and action planning, and you can ask questions about your own site throughout.

How much does the SQF Edition 10 Conversion Course cost?

What changed in SQF Edition 10?

Key changes include a new requirement for every site to have a food safety culture assessment plan, change management as a dedicated requirement (clause 2.3.5), strengthened environmental monitoring expectations, a revised scoring model with weighted core clauses, and a digital-first Code. The course walks through each change and what it means for your documents, programs, and records.

When do SQF Edition 10 audits begin?

SQFI released the Edition 10 Codes in March 2026 and anticipates that certification audits to Edition 10 will begin on January 2, 2027. SQFI notes the date depends on GFSI benchmarking and could move later. Sites audited before Edition 10 takes effect are still audited to Edition 9, so now is the time to update your system.

Is the Edition 10 Conversion Course required?

SQFI does not require the Conversion Course. However, the SQF Code requires your SQF Practitioner to understand the SQF Code and how to implement and maintain the SQF System for your site, so practitioners need to be current on Edition 10 before your site's first Edition 10 audit. The course is a fast, structured way to get there.

Should I take the Conversion Course or Implementing SQF Systems?

If you already run an SQF system under Edition 9, the Conversion Course covers what you need: the changes and how to apply them. If you are new to SQF or new to the SQF Practitioner role, take Implementing SQF Systems, which covers the full Edition 10 Code from the ground up over four half-day sessions.

What will I leave the course with?

You leave knowing where the Edition 10 requirements sit in the digitized Code, with a list of gaps in your own programs, and with a realistic, site-specific 30-day action plan for your transition.

What certificate do I receive?

Participants who complete the course receive a Kiwa ASI Certificate of Completion, which you can keep in your training records as documented evidence of Edition 10 training for your audits.
