Careers FAQs

Are Kiwa ASI food safety auditor jobs remote?

Yes. Our contract food safety auditor role, covering GFSI and GMP audits, is a remote contract position. Audits take place on site at client facilities, so you must be willing to travel by various means of transit, sometimes with overnight stays.

What qualifications do I need to become a contract food safety auditor with Kiwa ASI?

The role asks for a bachelor's degree in food safety, food science, agriculture, biology or a related field; at least 1 year of second- or third-party food safety auditing experience; and an accredited 16-hour HACCP course and/or a PCQI certificate. GFSI audits also require 40-hour lead auditor training and scheme-specific training as required. Strong report writing, communication and computer skills matter too.

What's the difference between GFSI and GMP audits?

GFSI audits evaluate sites against GFSI-benchmarked schemes such as SQF, BRCGS, IFS and FSSC 22000, and cover agriculture, food manufacturing, storage and distribution, food packaging and dietary supplement facilities. GMP audits evaluate compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, food safety regulations and industry standards at food manufacturing, storage and distribution, food packaging and dietary supplement facilities. The application asks which you're qualified to audit.

Do I need to be a registered lead auditor to apply?

For GFSI audits, the role asks for 40-hour lead auditor training and scheme-specific training as required. The application asks which lead auditor registrations you currently hold (SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, IFS, CanadaGAP, PrimusGFS, CSQ and others) so we can match you to the right audits.

What does a contract food safety auditor do?

Contract auditors schedule and prepare for audits, book their travel, conduct on-site audits with the applicable checklists and tools, communicate findings to the client, submit accurate reports on time, and review corrective actions and root cause analysis. They also attend calibration meetings and stay current on regulations and standards.

How much travel is involved?

Travel is part of every engagement because audits happen at client facilities. Auditors book their own travel, hotel and transportation to and from audits, and the application asks whether you're willing to travel by various means of transit, sometimes with overnight stays.

Can I apply if I already work with other certification bodies?

The application asks whether you're contracted with other certification bodies (CBs) or doing other work that could affect an audit schedule, and asks for details. Share them up front so we can review your availability and any potential conflicts.

What happens after I submit my application?

You'll get an email confirming that we received it. Our team reviews applications, and if your qualifications align with our needs, we'll reach out to discuss next steps.
