Third-Party Audits
ASI Food Safety Consultants offers audits for food processing plants,
non-food processing plants, distribution centers, grocery and retail facilities,
hotel and commercial kitchens and others. The emphasis for each audit
is based on the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) established in the
Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 21 part 110, the Federal Food Code of
2001, the National Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Criteria
in Foods, and the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act.
Additional questions are based on the federal requirements for HACCP and
standard operating procedures (9 CFR 416, 9 CFR 417, 21 CFR 120 and 21
CFR 123). Requirements for allergen control and detection of physical
hazards are based on the Compliance Policy Guides from the FDA. Requirements
for proper storage and handling of organic foods are based on the Organic
Act of 2002 from the USDA. Pest control requirements are based on the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide
and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).
These audits can be announced or unannounced, and involve a review of
quality systems and records, pest control operational methods and personnel
practices, maintenance and repair, and housekeeping and sanitation practices.
These audits provide an excellent method for training associates, and
for achieving and maintaining a world-class organization.
