ANSI - American National Standards Institute - Organization that aims to strengthen the US market competitiveness globally. They oversee the creation, promotion, and assessments of thousands of industry standards to help ensure the safety and health of consumers and the environment. 


BRC - British Retail Consortium - Trade association in the United Kingdom that represents small and large retailers with standards to build confidence in the supply chain and to help assure consumers that products are safe, legal and of high quality. GFSI benchmarked and recognized worldwide.


FDA - Food and Drug Administration - Responsible for protecting the health of consumers by ensuring the safety, efficacy and security of the nation's food supply, human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical products, cosmetics and products that emit radiation.


FSMA - Food Safety Modernization Act - Created to ensure the food supply is safe by focusing on prevention of contamination instead of responding to incidents as they occur.


FSIS - USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service -  Responsible for protecting the consumers' health by ensuring the safety of meat, poultry, and processed egg products.


FSSC 22000 - Food Safety System Certification - An ISO-based food safety management system certification that is GFSI recognized worldwide.


GAPAudit - Good  Agricultural  Practices audit - Verifies that fruit and vegetables are produced, packed and stored safely to minimize risks of microbial food safety hazards. Also, GHP - Good Handling Practices audits. 


Gap Analysis Consulting - To prepare for a GFSI Certification Audit - A consultant will bridge the gaps between your current program and what you need to develop in order to achieve a GFSI certification.


GFSI - Global Food Safety Initiative - A Global collaboration to advance food safety. Several Certifications are benchmarked under GFSI and are accepted worldwide to help protect consumers and ensure the continuous improvement of food safety systems.

IFS - International Food  Standard - GFSI recognized certification to ensure uniform food, product, and service standards.


IFT - Institute of Food Technologists - Association of food technology experts that provide the latest information about the science of food through continuing education and events.


ISO - International Organization for Standardization - Develop and publish international standards to be used to consistently ensure the quality of materials, products, processes, and services for many different industries. 


SQF - Safe Quality Food - GFSI benchmarked standard, recognized worldwide by retailers and food service providers.  


SQFI - Safe Quality Food Institute - Promotes SQF certification.


USDA - United States Department of Agriculture - Oversees the American farming industry. Services include helping farmers with price support subsidies and inspecting food to ensure the safety of the American public.
